Singin’ In the Rain (Sandalford Weddings, Swan Valley)

‘Singin’ in the rain’ originally performed by Gene Kelly was rearranged as a duet by Polkadot + Moonbeam and performed as a special request for Steph + JD at Sandalford Winery just this Friday past. The Underground Cellar (Sandalford Winery) located in the Swan Valley is as always a spectacular wedding venue.  And yes, the bride looks even more beautiful than she already does on Channel 7 News. ♡

We were so delighted to have you performing and thought your music was the perfect touch.  – Steph + JD

The acoustics in the room was rather special! Comparable to the Quarry Amphitheatre for S+K‘s wedding, we felt that it really covered most parts of the frequencies of our voices and instruments. Think Dolby Surround Sound. 🙂 We entertained the guests with some of our favourite swing and latin classics and peppered it with a few instrumentals as always inspired by jazz ukulele maestro Lyle Ritz, before the couple descended from the Merlot Lawn above as the sun commenced to set.

Then, the DANCE as choreographed by the groom’s mother! We loved their little dance, and Steph’s final graceful pose to their lil romantic duet.

‘Come on with the rain!

I’ve a smile on my face.’

from ‘Singin’ In the Rain’  as sung by Gene Kelly (1952)

There was something so simple to their love despite the sophistication that we saw with the naked eye especially at such a beautiful and spacious venue. They were just really an awesome young couple, genuinely sincere, but with a tremendous taste for old soul music that we could nod profusely to, blessed by their (very good-looking) families who LOVE them to bits.

Thank you S + JD, we feel extremely honoured to be in this love-soaked room, and we wish and bless you both with wonderful adventures together in your new steps together.

xx P+M

p/s: We LOVED the couple’s closeups at their engagement shoot by the brilliant Anna Pretorious Photography, so we decided they look better on the cover of our insta-post than our silly Hogwarty things we left to the last. (click on post below to see multiple images)

Y O U N G L O V E // That ⚡️ between S+JD we witnessed playing 🎶 for their wedding but this CLOSEUP magic from their engagement shoot though 📷: @annapretoriusphotographyperth 👆Swipe L (sooo brilliant!) . . Don’t they make you tingle? We have fallen in love all over again. Sigh… 😍 Thank you S + JD for having us. You two are so beautiful inside out. We wish you the loveliest adventures together. ♡ . . // THE WEDDING // . We had the pleasure and honour of playing for this precious couple and their loving aussie/swiss families at @sandalford at the rustic Underground Cellar. We were really touched by their sincerity as they walked up from their dinner just to thank us for the music. 🎶 (They beat us to it!). The bride is even more beautiful than she is on @7newsperth 🤫 . . And if you are wondering, yes, we witnessed that at @sandalford_weddings_ you can achieve sophistication and still have intimacy at once. It’s really what you make of it of course! ♡ Bride’s brother – DJ Matt for example, had ALL the right tunes. 👌 . . Also! A few fun shots incl a faux Hogwarts moment I caught of Moonbeam when he found a piece of broken candlewax after an early soundcheck. That Butcher Baker Stylist

If you don’t yet know about Wedding Stylist/Planner Jess Butcher, take the time to visit The Butcher Baker Stylist. We thought it would be great to start of the first month of 2018 featuring Jess Butcher. Looking back on the weddings (at these venues: Linton & Kay Galleries, PSArtSpace, Matilda Bay) we had opportunities to work with her, we realised they were really beautifully taken care of. Heart, soul and most of all, she really is a creative. A little bit of Jess is always in her creations, making it signature in a glance. You cannot copy a natural artist. You can try stealing, but a discerning eye can always tell the difference. Her confidence, her genuine personality, her professionalism is backed by tons of vendors (and couples) like ourselves. (Witness that in the comments on our instagram post below)

Just ‘cuz we ♡ Jess Butcher and her work // styling + planning: @butcherbakerstylist (& photos!) 👆Swipe L . . Over the years we have come to work with Jess a few times, and each time, her person and work really shone with equal dedication, art and, can you believe it (though she’s booked out for 2018 – sorry folks!) Variety. Here are 3 of the weddings P+M played for snapped by Jess from her gorg gallery. 🎶 . . (1/3) A+J – When we played for A+J’s beautiful wedding at @psartspace I couldn’t stop swooning over her work and she confessed she was sooo happy the groom actually yassed her proposal of the p i n k chairs in that spectacular industrial space. 👌What moved me was how she shared that she always has a bit of Jess in her work. I think that is why the word variety alone just doesn’t cut it. She’s really an artist and that’s what artists do! ♡ . . (2/3) R+D – that tepee ⛺️ dream ..with @tpandco @thelittlepress @soulsounddjs so many more of our fave peeps at Matilda Bay. We sat on that couch by the waters at sunset and not so secretly took a dozen pretty photos after the early Soundcheck. I also recall seeing Jess radiant from her preggy then and still bubbling about getting that amazing wedding going. This full time mumma is ever a whirlwind at weddings, only cuter with lil Frankie easily her mini-me, cheerin’ w bandana and smiles. . . (3/3) B+K – this was v special for us. For too many reasons to account for. But Jess was definitely one of them. We played for the ceremony, cocktail and reception so it was a long night to see how she worked. With vendors, guests, the couple and with us. And I still remember that eucalyptus hanging arbor/arch she created for that precious couple. We probably hogged that spot a bit much between the breaks 😆Like A+J’s tremendous hanging florals (never quite missing the natives) this was simple, generous and yet bold. Oh, we do miss that darling couple. . . Really we just wanted to start of the year celebrating L O V E with Jess’ work. This is a long one. But it really is more for us to keep in our gallery as a reminder of visual magic ❀ . . Fellow vendors, I’m sorry we can’t tag everyone, but if you see your work here, do holla x

Fancy an intimate weddings at South Beach, Fremantle?

Ever fancied a beach wedding, or an elopement? If we could do an intimate wedding or elopement we would choose a beach as beautiful as this one at South Beach, Fremantle.

When Maryann from The Studio Loft approached us for another collaboration on her visit to Perth this trip, we were clapping hands and feet, because this lady’s art is great but her HEART is greater. If you are a small business owner, a couple planning your wedding, or just anyone who ever needed some good images of yourself, you know it’s more than just the lighting, the craft, the moment, though all of that is important, beyond that, is the heart of the artist that makes her subjects feel like they could be themselves. Maryann’s unassuming personality, and her childlikeness, as well as her love for her own family, reflects in her choices of colours, her ideas, …. everything really. That’s what a great artist does for me, brings out the most honest things in people, and that is what touches the heart of me. Truly.  (See article on The Studio Loft)

Our task was to find the best morning spot for Maryann to have an adventure with us at. Western Australia, due to its geographical advantage, is known for its beautiful sunsets. But constrained to the Fremantle zone, i had to do a bit of research to find the best spot for those few hours we had. After much exploration, and also on-site research, we decided to give the lesser recommended, ie beaches (at sunrise) a go. That summer’s day was unusually cloudy and that gave a slightly grandiose effect to the pictures, and reminded me of that significance of covenant in marriage. That very big decision, yes, bigger than dresses, venues, and even wedding invitations. I remember when we got married, it was massive. It took 5 proposals before my yes. And so you know when you know you know.

So yes, but this time, we didn’t know. Our recollection of Scarborough beach matched the images we saw on google for South Beach. But when we arrived, everyone saw a good piece of canvas for fun, creativity and adventure. We had sneak peaks of the fruits of our labour (mostly hers!) and …. I must say, it was better than our wedding pictures…also taken by her! So here’s another underdog moment, and we LOVED it. It was also so nice to hang out and catch up with our lah, leh, and lor-s for a good hour.

Whilst we are waiting in anticipation for the pictures as Maryann makes her way back to Singapore, she has very wisely taken a video and a still with her phone for us – so wise, since she’d probably expected us to chew our thumbs off in all this excited-ness.

Thank you Maryann, bless your craft, your eye for art, and your big-heartedness. May it continue to bless many many lucky couples, families and beauty-seeking souls.

And here’s our impromptu video post on instagram taken by the wonderfully talented Maryann, candid moments and all:

Are we getting married AGAIN? 🤪 Here’s a candid impromptu video taken early sunrise yester-morn complete with sound of the waves with our dear and very talented friend @thestudioloft – yes, that’s really what happens in our shoots, lots of LOL moments. . . . The clouds gave a beautiful dramatic effect we were not expecting. And here you actually see the sun making a brief appearance on the rocks, quite spectacular. . . . It is always so much fun working with the cool crew. That’s how adventures happen! Carefully not knowing! Here’s a wind/sea blown version of Moonglow which felt quiet tender and pretty for the south beaches. Doggies swimming, horsies taking long strolls and the amazing Maryann on an adventure with us in the wee.
