Polkadot + Moonbeam presents 'Polkadots and Moonbeams'
Perth-based acoustic jazz duo Polkadot + Moonbeam plays and sings an original duet arrangement of their namesake, a song that first brought about their musical collaboration 8 years ago.How 'Polkadot + Moonbeam' was formed in 2010:Composed by Jimmy Van Heusen and Johnny Burke, the 1940 song Polkadots and Moonbeam first fell upon the ears of Juliet, the now 'Polkadot', when the couple first met in 2010. At the time, Didi (Moonbeam) was also accompanying a singer in Sydney on the same tune. The quirky combination of the ukulele and bass was first dreamt up by Polkadot and the term 'four-string swing' coined by the witty Moonbeam. It was unusual for the mind to perceive, but if you close your eyes, that sweet familiar sound of D-hole guitars and a swinging double bass wasn't far. It was crystal clear. Against strummy uptempo ukulele trends, the two decided they loved the humble ukulele instrument simple for its mild and mellow tones – mostly thumbed, instead. The unabashed walk and dance of the bass that is bold, unapologetic, supports the mids and trebles of the ukulele, and their vocals in sweet harmony seals each tune perfectly in love. Why '@apugnosedream'?Some have noticed that our social media handle is rather unique… If you are familiar with the aforesaid song that is our namesake, and its lyrics, you just may have spotted the answer:'sparkled 'round a pug-nosed dream….'More info: www.polkadotandmoonbeam.com.auGo social on Instagram/Facebook/Youtube: @apugnosedreamSee video on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uwnIHt9stJs#polkadotandmoonbeam #apugnosedream #fourstringswing #polkadotsandmoonbeams #perthweddingbandhire #perthacousticduo #vintageacoustics

Why ‘Polkadot + Moonbeam’?

It was unusual for the mind to perceive, but if you close your eyes, that sweet familiar sound of D-hole guitars and a swinging double bass wasn’t far. It was crystal clear.
