We sang and played instrumentals and jazz classics for Beaufort Rotary Club’s Charter Night at The Platform Space in the city. It was wonderful entertaining such a diverse group that encouraged positive change as a collective. Inspired us to see how different causes could come together as one with a common interest for progress.

When one of the founders of the club spoke of their early beginnings, and how she recalled meetings in a cafe, we were very moved. It has been a dream to perform at The Platform Space because we know this was a friendly space to encourage people who lived with a purpose to share something beyond themselves. Her speech reminded me of how one can seem alone in what he or she believes in until given voice, and then you realise there’s more than 1. This collective believes in coming together to put thought into action. We are privileged to be a part of their new beginnings.

The stage at The Platform Space though completely equipped with a great sound system, seemed to be built with acoustics suitable even with little amplification, and when we played for the cocktail sets, we noticed how there was a natural fallback. One can imagine how that allows a more intimate engagement with the audience when the presenter/speaker stands on stage. It’s easy to visualise how those sofa and cushy chairs on the stage made it a cosy environment for any non-profit community.
