Michael and Beth engaged us through Champion Music, to play for his upcoming 70th birthday party in their lovely home in Hillarys. We played uptempo swing and latin standards, as instrumentals as well as with vocals for the afternoon serenading their house guests, many of whom, we realised to be singers and musicians as well!
We all really enjoyed your music – we have had lots of good comments about it from the guests. I think good music makes a party special.
Of course, it involved a sprightly Birthday song led by Moonbeam. The bonus was a little surprise group serenade of Dean Martin’s ‘That’s Amore’ – Michael’s ‘favourite’ song. It was Beth’s cheeky birthday surprise for him. It was a lively party, and we felt sooo welcomed. Beth and Michael’s love touched me deeply. It is quiet, certain, gentle and generous. She gave a simple and touching speech, and as she wept, I found myself looking away to dry my own eyes.
First day of Spring 2018, many new beginnings, how aptly chosen. 70 really is just a number when the birthday boy looks, feels and is confirmed by his biological weighing machine to be 38! We were also humbled by the many good people that came up to chat with us, and the nice things they’d said about the music.
Compliments! All around.
Weddings, birthdays, vow renewals, funerals, the one thing they have in common is that it involves family. To be invited into someone’s private space is something that we will always feel honoured about. Being able to bring cheer and smiles all around doing what we love continues to blow my mind everyday. Thank you for having us Beth & Michael. We want to be like YOU when we turn 70.
xx
