Between the ocean and the beautiful Swanbourne beach lies The Shorehouse which made the perfect wedding venue for Neil and Rebecca. We played and sing for their pre-dinner segment their favourite soundtracks from ‘When Harry Met Sally’ and ‘Sleepless in Seattle’ – two of our personal favourites too! Twilight celebrations often involve pretty faerie lights and sparkling champagne. We loved how Tegan and the lovely crew at The Shorehouse styled the beach deck, it looked precious. Sunset was one of kind that day. The whole place lit up in gold against the deep blue.
It was fantastic to have you there, it was perfect on the deck! Thank you so much for being part of our wedding.
If i were to be absolutely honest, the highlight of the evening was not us or our music but the couple’s love for live music and what it meant to them.
It was a beautiful night filled with talented musicians and happy faces!
I’d shared with the beautiful bride, Rebecca, that we were so used to tag-teaming with a DJ (or sometimes an ipod) – they are wonderful – but as a musician, we can’t help but love the same! We tag-teamed with whom we later realised to be Helen Shanahan, an up and coming singer-songwriter, and also the bride’s very own sister! How beautiful is that. We really enjoyed listening to her. Even though we had already done a day wedding earlier that day and had to catch a plane after, we stood there listening to her beautiful folksy singing. Later on the evening, I was informed that Helen’s husband, head of WAAPA’s contemporary music department had also arranged for Sophie Foster to perform for their first dance. How wonderful is that? We feel incredibly blessed and honoured to be representing the jazz segment in a night of live music with incredible talents! I think the last time we had such an honour, music-wise, was playing to a crowd of WASO musos for these lovebirds at Matilda Bay.
We also managed to steal a date-hour after an early soundcheck on this beautiful beach. Oh yes, if you visit The Shorehouse, you may just spot a silly Golden Lab who loves a little snack from the good Shorehouse people. He loves a good pat.
