Wedding of Mia and Cheyne at Bib and Tucker in Fremantle

We were thrilled playing for the wedding of Mia and Cheyne at Bib and Tucker in Fremantle on leap year day! Almost a year ago they requested for us to play the classic Beatles tune ‘Here Comes the Sun’. We love the song so much, we just were delighted for an opportunity to finally get an acoustic duo arrangement on the tenor ukulele and bass guitar. For Christmas we even made a video dedicated to Mia and Cheyne. (scroll to bottom to see video).

Thank you for making our day that much more special.

When we arrived, the sea view took our breath away. Literally jewels in the sea. The couple had picked such a beautiful venue for their wedding. We spoke with celebrant Nola before the ceremony began and she revealed that she always married the bride Mia’s mother who was her student in school! We were both so warmed by that little bit of family history. The note of love had just begun for the day.

We loved having you perform and I think you really helped set the mood for the whole evening. I really loved your rendition of Here Comes the Sun (though I think Mia was a bit distracted while you performed it), thanks for learning it for us!

We took the celebrant Nola’s cue as Mia walked down the aisle beautiful in white. Everyone was waiting expectantly – especially Cheyne. We wish we could tell him then how well was doing keeping it composed but we were playing their song. After months of waiting, the song finally connected with the love behind these two. Watching her walk down, it was quite emotional for us too. When they exchanged their vows, i looked around and saw there were tears all around. Tears of joy.

As their recessional/walk-out song was ‘Fly Me to the Moon’, I asked if they’d like to keep the theme celestial, and have some stars? They loved the idea, so we played ‘When You Wish Upon A Star’ for their song signing. When Nola pronounced them husband and wife, we went into a full-swing for an upbeat version of the classic tune, celebrating the first moments of their lives together as a married couple.

As we continued to play upbeat and cocktail tunes, the sun began to set. At the corner of our eyes, we could all see a certain newly-wedded pair holding hands, very much in love, strolling down that freo beach. Warm white sands, and a twinkling horizon. Mia and Cheyne later returned and though it wasn’t planned, Moonbeam kicked off a funky blues groove to welcome the couple back unto the deck, seting the night into music.

We loved playing for this special pair. Thank you Mia and Cheyne for having us celebrate your love with our music. It is a privilege and has been incredible honour. We wish you, bless you both with eternal love and beautiful adventures ahead of you as a married couple.
