It was a brilliant, colourful Mexican Fiesta Wedding for Kat and Steve, who impressed us all by coordinating the entire wedding whilst having the greatest party of their lives! We loved playing for them over the fiesta weekend for their wedding ceremony as well as the after-morning brunch.
Part of the greatest wealth of W.A. really is this beautiful expanse of space, and along with it, the flora and fauna most of which unique to the land. And so if you own an amazing space as such, why wouldn’t celebrate your happiest first steps together with all your loved ones (furry and not) right there?
We sang and played the pre-wedding, wedding ceremony, cocktail music on ‘the first day’ of that beautiful fiesta. Kat requested for us to play Steve’s favourite tune ‘Africa’ by Toto as her processional/walk-in music, and we loved playing an acoustic duet arrangement of this lively song. As if in an African safari, she graced from a 4WD in her beautiful white, and those stunning flowers in her hair. Beautiful, wild, and with extreme grace. How she managed that must have something to do with her love for animals, nature, and how at home, she felt on the farm/estate in the presence of only her closest friends and families. We asked how Steve felt, and he said he was slightly nervous in the morning, but just really excited. We thought they did extremely well, managing such an amazing space and affair! (psst…We learnt later that Kat was also a very talented baker and made all the desserts for the wedding!)

We have never heard 2 sets of vows being exchanged, that is to say, they wrote their own, and also or each other to read. It was so fun and very endearing. This is honest love stemming from real friendship and an understanding for the things that matter to them. Both vets, they share deeply each other’s love for animals, nature. Though different (who isn’t?), extremely similar in their honesty to put it forth. Like her entrance, it was bold and beautiful to witness. Celebrant Josh (Marry Me Josh), was just so genuine that you know this is not just someone doing his job. He is passionate about his job, extremely personable, and definitely very professional. Always a great blessing to work with amazing folks. And then, that beautiful sunset…
We were blessed to also have the privilege to play for their morning brunch the next day. Driving back to Chittering in the morning, Moonbeam and I saw after probably 8years, our first W.A. sunset up close together. It was so beautiful and breath-taking, it might have been a bit dangerous driving whilst oo-ing and aah-ing at the same time. But we were really looking forward to being with the lovebirds, their friends, and their furbabies (Quinn, ponies, horses,..), herds of kangaroos Moonbeam kept spotting (and I kept missing), Australian Ringnecks and… last but not least, this pair of Splendid Blue Wrens.
