Winter Wedding at Sandalford Winery

Winter Wedding at Sandalford Winery

We played and sang for a couple very close to our hearts under the vines on the beautiful Verdelho Lawn at Sandalford Winery in Swan Valley last weekend in the presence of their dearest friends and families, kicking off the season for Winter Weddings. The pair were also personal friends of ours, and to witness their bliss on this day was truly a privilege. The celebration continued into the evening when the generous warm glow faded to a cool evening and the crowd moved into the beautiful oak-barrelled rustic Underground Cellar.

It means so much to us that you were part of our wedding. Not only that, your were using your talents to bless us in making our wedding extra special! – Mr. & Mrs Ong

That afternoon glow during rehearsal – Verdelho Lawn

When she walked down the aisle to Moonbeam singing ‘Perfect’ by Ed Sheeran, and burst into tears, I found myself turning away to clear the welling up in my own eyes. I met this little lady almost 3 years ago when she came to me for voice lessons, and i recall, still denying marriage was anywhere near at the time, and rightfully so since they had only met a year or less then. It seems just like yesterday when I’d seen her blossom into a confident vocalist and songwriter in her own right. She then introduced her mom to me who also wanted voice lessons, and also performed that very evening at the reception, an item with her church friends to bless the couple. In many ways, they have become very close to my heart. When the couple invited us to perform for their ceremony, we had already said yes to attending as guests. It was a little bit of a fun gig. We got to play 2 different roles at once. Blessing their ceremony with music and their guests with a bit of cocktail fun, and then breaking the dance floor at night with Moonbeam’s non-existent floor moves. Psst. He had a bit of a toilet episode that evening after that ‘extreme sport’ of break-dancing.

Watching her walk down the aisle with anticipating happy faces all about them, I was brimming with joy. Pastor Ben opened with a prayer and we sang and played ‘What A Beautiful Name’, leading the guests in worship. It was such a privilege to be leading in His presence. It was one of those moments, I know if i stopped singing, the voices would continue to ring, in eager blessings for them, and in praise of His love for us. During the signing, we sang and played a paced version of ‘Our Love is Here to Stay’. The sun was setting and poured honey gold over the signing table.  It was just beautiful. We played an upbeat Blue Moon as they were pronounced husband and wife, Mr & Mrs Ong.

Tuning up for the moment

We continued to play the cocktail set as the cheering guests took turns with photo-taking. For a very relaxed couple, they were very organised, with a running list of photo-subjects! It was the first time we had to step out of our ‘work mode’ to take a snap with the couple. A heartwarming moment.

Due to a little ‘glitch’ just 2 nights before the wedding, the couple were blessed with the gifts of Jason Tey Photography. Jason and Norman were just a wonderful team to work with. Miraculously an available spot in his already maxed-out capacity, Jason yass-ed to this couple’s last minute booking, and truly blessed them with his skills, eye for art, and also just great personality. Full of smiles, the team showed not only skill, professionalism but also brought the gift of joy to the couple and their guests that beautiful day.

That famous walk with the vines – Sandalford Winery

Every wedding is different because every couple is different. Their priorities, their love, their vision. This darling couple chose a great venue, kept the fuss away, and trusted the day is blessed because of Love. I loved that they stuck to it, and were determined to walk with each other through every bit of it. Already a great first step in their walk together as a married couple. Sometimes protecting each other from the noise, sometimes, coaxing each other into lessons, and always with a bit of laugh and affection. If I may name one thing most charming and blissful about these two, it was the genuine love they have from their families and friends.  That is PRECIOUS.

So my little missy, now missus, enjoy your marriage. We bless you, love you both. Thank you for having us celebrate this important day in your life with you.

The moment when it feels like your little sister’s getting married. Beautiful photos by @jasonteyphotography at a winter wedding of 2 dear ♥️s @sandalford 🍂 x Super stoked that Jason Tey will also be joining us at Ceremony ‘Feels’ @perthcityfarm on 16th September!!! Get your ticket, pick our brains, clear that ceremony haze. See bio for link/deets. x Encouraged by the bride to share these beauties, we pulled at our hair to pick a few of these fave moments. The bride is a very special friend and we were very honoured to be a part of their special day, celebrating their ceremony, worship segment as well as pre-dinner cocktails. I also hopped on the piano for a surprise song dedication sung by the bride for the groom. Reliving these moments through Jason’s eyes – just precious. Did we mention that Jason and his team were so fab to work with too? ✨ x @sandalford_weddings_ #sandalfordwedding #lydmeong #jasonteyphotography #winterwedding #ceremonyfeels #perthweddings #ceremonyfeels
